Celebs & their pets

I have four dogs. Animals can immediately sense when you are sad. Whenever I get depressed, my dogs come to me to give me company. It is not that I do not trust humans. To be honest I trust my animal friends more. The best way to see the trust of a person is through your bad times," SRK revealed.

Spotted: Madhuri with her family

'Both my husband and I felt there's so much we can do back home. Whether it's in our profession or on a humanitarian level, we feel there's a lot that we can contribute to our own lives and to society,' Madhuri said.
Madhuri Dixit says her decision to return to India was taken a while ago and was based on a belief that they could do more, on a professional level, back home. Asked what promoted the decision, Madhuri said: 'We had been toying with the idea for quite some time. We now think maybe this is the right time. The kids need to discover their roots. India is growing into a formidable power. It's become the new land of opportunities.'

She agreed that the uprooting process would be far more difficult for her husband since he has a thriving medical career in the US. 'Yes, one had to think it to a complete and logical conclusion. It was a very hard decision for us. But once we made up our minds to return to India, we're quite sure we'll see our decision through.'

'Of course for me coming back to India is not such a great change. I've been in and out of India all the time after marriage. For him it's going to be a little more difficult. Sriram loves India and Indian food. He had it in the back of his mind that one day we'd return. But so far we didn't act on it.'

On how the change would impact her sons, she said: 'I thought it would be great if they grew up in India. They'd know their culture, their roots. They'd know where they come from. India is so rich culturally. There's so much for them to do and learn at home in India.'

She said this was the right age for them to return to India, as being so young, the children could adapt. 'If they got older, it would be harder for them. They're excited about going to India. Of course they're sad to leave behind their friends here. But they know they will make new friends there. Nowadays the schools in the US are not very different from the ones in Mumbai. And kids adapt very quickly. In no time my sons will make friends and ...

Meanwhile Bollywood diva Amisha Patel was also spotted at the Mumbai Intl airport.

The Original Divas of Bollywood: Simi Garewal

Simi Garewal or 'The White Woman' is a person who defines 'evergreen'.From the beginning of her career to her present age Simi has hardly undergone any change, in terms of appearance. The chic and fashionable yesteryear actress is still considered to be a style icon in the country despite being in her sixties. She brought along class and sophistication in her films and gave the audiences of her time a breath of fresh air from the regular tragedy-struck heroines.

The Beginning
Simi Garewal's first tryst in front of the screen was the English language film 'Tarzan Goes to India' opposite Feroz Khan. Simi was a mere 15 year old at that time and the role was given to her solely because of the fact that she was an England returned lass who, obviously, had a good command over the language.

Claim to Fame
Simi Garewal acted in a few films like 'Do Badan', for which she won a Filmfare, 'Saathi' and Bengali film 'Aranyer Din Ratri' before she appeared as the charismatic teacher, Miss Mary in 'Mera Naam Joker'. The role is still the most remembered of her entire career.

The Oomph factor
Simi Garewal's oomph factor lay in her long silken tresses and her unique personality as compared to other actresses. She was not the usual Hindi film actress of those times. She was bred in another country. Her image was cool and sophisticated which made her stand out from the crowd.

The Calling
Simi was merely five years of age when she saw the Raj Kapoor film, 'Awara' and was blown away by it. It was then and there that she had decided to become and actress. While in her teens she landed in India and started her course towards an acting career.

Did You Know?
Simi Garewal had a year long affair with Salman Taseer who went on to become the Governor of Punjab, Pakistan.
Simi Garewal Now
Simi is well over 60 today but has shown no signs of aging. She keeps coming back with something new for her fans. She presently hosts the talk show 'Simi Selects: India's Most Desirable' where she gets celebrities to spill the beans.

While a lot of people have been quick to criticize her for trying to act young, we can only laud her efforts to keep time and age at bay for such a long time. She was a woman who lived her dream of acting and has constantly sought to re-invent herself in spite of all the criticisms that came her way. Simi Garewal is indeed a true classic beauty and a shining light when other actresses have faded into oblivion.

Bollywood's Lost and Found Stars

2011 has been a year of blockbusters, (South) remakes, sequels and comebacks.
While many successful actresses of the 90 are making a comeback in films, there are a few others who have suddenly come up after missing in action from B-town and that cannot exactly be called a ‘comeback’.
These are stars who were lost but have, now been found and are back on the Bollywood bandwagon.

Zayed Khan

If you are surprised why Zayed Khan is in the list, try to think when the last time you saw him in a full fledged role was. After making slight cameos in films like ‘Blue’ and ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ Zayed is finally back as the ‘hero’ with ‘Love Breakups Zindagi’.

Chitrangada Singh

Chitrangada stormed her way into the film scene with movies like ‘Hazaaron Khwahishei Aisi’ and ‘Kal: Yesterday and Tomorrow’ she disappeared, and totally, from Bollywood for 3 years. She made a not-so-great comeback with ‘Sorry Bhai’ in 2008 but this year, she raked in some great reviews with the film ‘Yeh Saali Zindagi’ early this year. With a number of projects in hand, Chitrangadha seems to here to stay.

Tabu

Tabu has not been quite active in Bollywood since2007. She acted in the movie ‘Toh Baat Pakki’ which came and went without much notice. Post the film she acted in a couple of South Indian movies. This year, however, she has signed a number of Hindi movies which should ensure that we see her around more often.

Shefali Shah
Shefali Shah has acted in only in a handful of films but her films have always been tasteful and she has been lauded for each of her roles since ‘Satya’. Her last outing, ‘The Last Lear’, though it fetched her a National Award, was not noticed as much. She came back in the real sense with this year’s release ‘Kuch Love Jaisa’. Though the film did not perform well at the box-office, her fresh look in the film was raved about.

Manisha Koirala

Manisha Koirala, a top actress of the 90’s acted in the 2010 dud “Ek Second Jo Zindagi Badal De’ and has not really acted in a major film since 2007. She got married to Nepali businessman, Samrat Dahal last year and not much of her was heard since. This year, she acted in the film, ‘I Am’ and her sensitive portrayal of a Muslim woman was beautiful and praise-worthy. Manisha will also be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film ‘My Friend Pinto’ later this year.
