Ranbir Kapoor milked cows for 'Rockstar'!

Ranbir Kapoor takes his work seriously! For the role of a young boy from a Jat family in 'Rockstar', he actually went and stayed with one such family, ate at local dhabas and even milked cows.

In 'Rockstar', directed by Imtiaz Ali, Ranbir plays Janardan Jakhar, the youngest son of a traditional Jat family. So, it was important for the Kapoor boy to pick the mannerisms for a convincing act. Imtiaz joined him too.

"Imtiaz and Ranbir spent an entire day with a Jat family based on the outskirts of Delhi. They would hang around with the young boys of the family, sleep on the cots, eat out at the local dhabas and enjoy hookah in the evening...Ranbir even assisted the men of the house in milking the cows!" said a source from the unit.

"Ranbir had the time of his life trying to milk the cows! It was such an amusing sight...everyone was in splits! But all in all, he learnt a lot about the lifestyle of a typical Jat family which was important for filming, and also ended up having a great time doing things that he wouldn't otherwise get to experience," added the source.

No tie-up with Kangna : Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton has denied Kangna Ranaut’s claims that she’d been chosen as the Indian brand ambassador for her accessories line.

Pragya Narang from the event company that is managing the launch in India, said, “Paris Hilton Fashions officially denies approaching Kangna, who claims that she is all set to be the face of the fashion line. Paris is a global mega-star and doesn’t need anyone to be the face of her fashion line, anywhere in the world.”

A Mumbai daily had carried the report that the socialite had approached Kangana to be the Asian brand ambassador of her clothing line Paris Hilton Fashions.

Much-delayed ‘Tell Me O Kkhuda’ delayed further

Problems for Hema Malini’s ‘Tell Me O Khuda’ seems to show no signs of ending. The release of her already much-delayed home production, which stars daughter Esha Deol, Arjan Bajwa and Chandan Roy Sanyal, has been pushed back yet again.

It will now hit theatres October end. The Dream Girl, apparently, is running scared. She doesn’t want her movie to compete with the six other films that are releasing on September 30, a date she had originally chosen for her film release.

Says a source, “Hema was taken aback that there were so many releases the same day. She did not want to take any chances. The promotional tours of the cast are being reworked. The promos that are to air are also being rescheduled.”

The films scheduled to release on September 30 include the John Abraham starrer Force, Dev Anand’s Chargesheet, Nikhil Advani’s 3D animation flick Delhi Safari, Pammi Somal’s Na Jaane Kabse, Rajiv Khandelwal- Soha Ali Khan starrer Soundtrack and Deepa Sahi’s Tere Mere Phere.

Adds the source, “Hema is banking a lot on the project. So is Esha as it is her comeback vehicle to Bollywood. Hema feels it will put her back in the reckoning. The film also stars Dharmendra besides Madhoo, Rishi Kapoor, Vinod Khanna, Farooque Shaikh, Deepti Naval. Salman Khan has done a cameo.”

Tell Me O Kkhuda, which was completed last year, was initially slated for a December 2010 release. It was then pushed to early 2011. The makers then decided to out it after the IPL and World Cup match schedules, which took them to post May.

And just when Hema thought it was smooth sailing, she now has to contend with a crowd. Moreover, as Diwali sees Shah Rukh’s Ra.One, she now feels it would be safest to unleash her film on the public post the festive season.

Gwyneth Paltrow deigns to acknowledge saving a peasant’s life on 9/11

A few weeks ago, we found out that Gwyneth Paltrow “saved a life” on 9/11 by almost running down a woman on the streets of New York. The woman was walking to work and Dame Goop almost crashed her Mercedes into her. The woman was late for the subway, so she late for work at the World Trade Center, thus, her life was saved. To Goop’s credit, SHE wasn’t the one pushing the story or publicizing it, it was all this woman who lived to tell the tale. Gwyneth’s publicist only confirmed the details. But now that Goop is in Venice promoting a film, she took the time to talk about it:
Gwyneth Paltrow didn’t mean to be a hero on September 11, 2001 — but, thanks to post-yoga class encounter with a jaywalking pedestrian named Lara Lundstrom Clarke in downtown Manhattan, she became one.

Last month, Clarke recounted her “Sliding Doors moment,” in which she had an awkward stand-off with Paltrow (in her Mercedes SUV) on Seventh Avenue — thereby making her miss her train to work at the World Trade Center. (By the time Clarke arrived, the first tower was already falling.)

Promoting her flick Contagion at the Venice Film Festival, Paltrow, 37, acknowledged receiving a letter from Clarke and recounted her own version of that day.

“Basically, what happened was I had gone to a yoga class very early,” Paltrow explained.

“I was on the way home and it was the morning of September 11 — not that I knew at the time what that meant — and a girl was jaywalking across the street and we kind of both stopped at the same time and waited a really long time,” said Paltrow.

“Ten years later I got a letter from her saying that she had been late for work and we had that thing and she went down to the Christopher Street station to catch her train to go down to the World Trade Center where she worked on the 77th floor of the South Tower and the train was just pulling out,” the Oscar winner and mother of two continued.

“It was an extraordinary story and all I could think about is all of the people who had experiences like that that day, but aren’t able to reach out because it wasn’t a recognizable person,” Paltrow pointed out. “I think a lot of fates were changed that day obviously and I am very humbly happy to be a part of her story.”

I like Gwyneth’s emphasis on how the woman was “jaywalking”. Which makes it okay that Goop almost ran her down in her Mercedes, I guess. No, I won’t make fun of it. Gwyneth is handling the situation the best way she can. It’s not like she’s “pulling a Goop” and starting the conversation like, “My dear friend, this peasant, says I’m a national hero. Beyonce said my dancing is heroic too. It must be true. I demand a monument in my honor!” I also like the point that Goop made about how many people have similar stories of that day, but aren’t able to find their “heroes” because the people were just normal, ordinary people.

Katrina Kaif prays for success of her upcoming films at Ajmer shrine

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif on Tuesday visited the Dargah of Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer, Rajasthan, to offer her prayers for the success of her upcoming films 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan' (My Brother's Bride) and 'Ek Tha Tiger' (There was a Tiger).

The actress paid obeisance at the shrine early on Tuesday.

Kaif was attired in a white kurta and her head was covered with a black scarf.

She laid flowers at the shrine and made religious offerings. Kaif also offered a traditional Chadar at the shrine and prayed for some time

In 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan', Kaif stars opposite Imran Khan and Pakistani singer Ali Zafar. The movie is scheduled to be released this week.

In 'Ek Tha Tiger', Kaif is paired opposite Salman Khan and will be released next year.

A large number of devotees, who were present at the shrine, could not recognize the actress, as she had covered her face.
Kaif, who is known for her good looks, visited the shrine without having any make-up on her face.
She returned to Jaipur after her visit to the shrine was completed.

The actress often visits the shrine before the release of any of her films.

The shrine is a symbol of religious convergence as people from all religions throng the holy place in large numbers with a belief that all their wishes would be fulfilled after they offer prayers at the shrine.

Thousands of devotees congregate at the revered Ajmer Sharif shrine every year to offer prayers on the occasion of 'Urs' (death anniversary of a Sufi saint).

Among the other prominent Bollywood personalities, who had earlier visited the holy shrine were, Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, actress Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone.

Apart from Bollywood actors frequently visiting the tomb of Moinuddin Chishti whose blessings are eagerly sought by pilgrims, politicians also visit the shrine to seek the blessings from the Sufi saint.

The shrine is the last resting place of the saint who died in the year 1235. (ANI)

Pankaj Kapur makes singing debut

The film ‘Mausam’ will mean many firsts for Pankaj Kapoor. Apart from making his directorial debut, Pankaj plans to take it up by a notch by actually agreeing to sing live at the success party being organized for film’s soundtrack.

This will be for the first time that the actor-turned-director would be singing live. He has been rehearsing and training his vocal chords for the last few days to be able to sing live and know his perfectionist attitude towards everything he does, we can be assured of a flawless performance. Kapoor is going to perform to song, ‘Saj Dhaj Ke’, a song he has sung himself in the film as well, also along with Mika Singh.

Apart from Pankaj, singers Mika Singh, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Tochi Raina, Hard Kaur etc are also going to perform live at the success party to commemorate the other tracks in the album. A source reveals, “Pankajji loves music and has a lot of knowledge of Punjabi folk songs. He gave a lot of valuable inputs to the music of the film. He keeps singing in front of his friends, but has never sung live in front of a huge gathering. He is very excited to perform live in front of the entire star cast of the film, especially his son Shahid and wife Supriya, who mean the most to him.”

Talking about the success the film’s songs have received, Pankaj Kapur says, “I am glad that the film’s music has really been appreciated and we wanted to celebrate that. We are trying to get all the singers to come and sing. I too would be singing.”
