Couple of the week: Shilpa, Raj

If the recent pictures of the power couple--Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty—have made you look back at Raj twice, then you aren’t alone. The business tycoon has gone lean and it’s noticeable.

Raj now looks fitter, and healthy, and it’s all thanks to the Midas touch of his wife Shipa, says the business tycoon.

“Shilpa makes me run behind her. Where ever she goes, I go and this in turn has made me fit and healthy,” jokes Raj

“I love the food Shilpa prepares at home. Be it idli sambhar, dosas or the rotis she recently learnt to make. I must confess, she is the perfect partner to have- be it in life or in business,” Raj adds.

Those who know me personally will tell you how simple I am in my real life. I still love to cook food, spend time with my loved ones and behave like a total homely girl, Shilpa has once said during an interview.

The couple is also planning to launch a production house soon. In fact, says Raj, “We have finalised the script, the stars and the rest of the essentials for our first film. However, we shall divulge the details a little later. At the moment, I can only tell you that our film will have all the elements of a blockbuster- comedy, romance, thriller and entertainment, all in one.”

Raj and Shilpa got married in the year 2009. It was Raj's second marriage.

They both are part owners of the Indian Premier League franchise cricket team Rajasthan Royals

Who has the sexiest legs in B-town?

Isn't she a pretty lass?

Sushmita is perhaps one of those celebs who keep us in a permanent state of awe!

Do you see what we see?

This was one of those rare occasions when the Bachchan Bahu slipped into something short.

Pretty . Don't you think so?

Sonam Kapoor knows that a short dress is the best way to flaunt those long legs.

Mallika Sherawat's toned legs. We rest our case.
Bebo is a darling. Don't you like this pose?

Dia Mirza normally passes off as a desi babe, but doesn't she look stunning in this?

On the ramp or off it, Deepika Padukone, is a stunner all the way
In this stunning ramp appearance Piggy Chops lives up to her nick name.

Bips oozes oomph. Enough said.

And now, we leave you with three pretty girls. Kangna Ranaut, Priyanka Chopra and Mugda Godse. Who do you think has the sexiest legs?

Shilpa's big plans

Shilpa Shetty might not be making frequent public appearances but the actress is as busy as she was during the peak days of her acting career. With many businesses and few new plans lined up, we caught up with the actress in an exclusive chat to talk about her current phase and much more. Read on

We don't see you making many public appearances, what keeps you occupied currently? I am on a sabbatical right now and it is a total bliss time for me. I am very happy in this phase of my life. Though I may not be making many public appearances but there are many things that keep me occupied all the time. Even after making my dreams a reality and having achieved what I always wanted, I still have many more things on my action list. As soon as my sabbatical gets over, I would be back to the busy life that I have always loved to live.

What is your take on the current Bigg Boss show? I think the Bigg Boss contestants are having an easy time compared to what the Big Brother experience was. In our case we had to even earn our food. On the other hand our Bigg Boss contestants are so pampered in comparison.

We have been hearing a lot about your film production plans. What is the latest on that front? I feel there is a right time for everything. I don't do things for the sake of doing them; it has to make sense to me. Talking about film production, there is a surprise announcement which I will make soon. I can't tell you the details at this moment but all I can say is that I am getting into film production in a big way.

How do you react to the media reports concerning your private life? I would be lying if I said it does not bother me to read baseless stories that get published and reported in the media. Though, I understand that all this is part of being a public figure but when such stories get too interfering it does bother me.

How do you look at the two decades in Bollywood that you have been around? To be honest, it feels like a fairy tale. I have so much to thank and I have got things beyond what I had thought. It feels so special at times. I feel blessed. I cherish every moment my journey in Bollywood. Those who know me personally will tell you how simple I am in my real life. I still love to cook food, spend time with my loved ones and behave like a total homely girl. I come from a middle class background and that has stayed with me. I take life as it comes and I am never bothered by the ups and downs in life.

Tell us about your real estate venture. With the rising real estate prices, we have decided to provide affordable homes to people through our real estate venture. We will be soon starting with this project which is one its first kinds in the private sector.

Beauty Secrets from the Stars

I'm very particular about my cleansing-toning-moisturising routine. Every time I cleanse, I take a close look at the cotton ball to make sure there's no trace of make-up on it. I also wash my face with water at least five times a day. Wearing sunscreen with SPF 30 too is a must. I don't change my cosmetics brand too often. Dermalogica products suit my skin. I also load up on green leafy veggies and fresh fruits, especially orange and papaya.

The less I do to my skin, the better it stays. To wipe off make-up, I make my own concoction of Johnson's baby oil, coconut oil and olive oil, massage this on my face and wipe it off with a towel soaked in warm water. Also, I believe what is inside you will reflect outside. So, make positivity your life mantra and be disciplined about your lifestyle. My favourite make-up? Lipsticks! I am obsessed with them. Pinks from the Estee Lauder brand are my all-time favourites.

I have an extremely sensitive skin. There are very few cosmetic products I can apply to my skin as it tends to break out. When I wake up, I wash my face with water and a non-moisturising soap. The only thing I consciously do is to never sleep with my make-up on and use a baby oil to take it off. Considering I'm not able to apply too much to my skin, I have to take care of it with what I eat. I make sure I have a handful of walnuts every day. I also like to keep my make-up light on a day-to-day basis. If I'm going out in the day, I stick to a very light lipstick, kohl and mascara. For evenings, I only add on a liner and a very light eye shadow from M.A.C.

What you eat is bound to show on your skin, so I'm extremely careful about what goes into my mouth. I start my day with warm water, lemon and honey. This apart, I have loads of water through the day. Both help flush out toxins from the system and make your skin glow with health. I never skip the sunscreen: I apply it 20 minutes before stepping out in the sun. Plus, I make sure to remove every speck of make-up and moisturise well before retiring for the night. My make-up must-haves include a L'Oreal lip gloss and a waterproof mascara. A dash of kohl and I am ready for the day.

I am a Cancerian and love water. I drink at least 10 glasses a day and trust me, it has done wonders for my skin. Besides, I am also very careful about what I eat and load up on lots of fruits and veggies. I also religiously believe in a cleansing-toning-moisturising routine. My faves: Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion and richer creams like Clarins Hydraquench Cream. My make-up faves include eye make-up from M.A.C and Bobbi Brown light foundations and concealers.

I understand the importance of enhancing one's appearance. So I exercise, try to eat healthy and think positive. I have combination skin, which can be both oily and dry, so I religiously moisturise twice a day with a water-based hypo-allergenic moisturiser. Sunscreen is a must for me too. Right now I'm using Vichy Capital Soleil with SPF 50 so my face stays protected in the sun for up to eight hours. My never-forget make-up includes a tinted lip balm, a mascara and a kohl pencil from M.A.C. PS: Give your brain a workout too, because a sharp mind makes you all

Time is a constraint, but taking care of your skin is a must. So I keep it simple (but that shows good results). For instance, I follow a simple 10-minute cleansing-toning-moisturising routine. Begin your day with a glass of lukewarm water and stay well hydrated through the day to flush out toxins. Also, choose products that are a mix of nature and science. I don't go for regular facials but I do indulge in clean-ups once in a while. Almost as a ritual, every week I like to luxuriate in a relaxing body massage. Also, when I'm not shooting, I just stick to basics like a simple lipstick and a neutral foundation.

I religiously follow a cleansing toning and moisturising routine. When I am not shooting, I stay as far away from make-up as possible barring a sunscreen and lip balm. I also drink plenty of water to ward off dehydration that makes your skin look tired. I also go in for a deep conditioning treatment or a hair spa, once a month. A healthy diet gives my face that glow. I also focus on working out more, which has completely transformed my skin.

Her onscreen energy is infectious and her million dollar smile can perk you up in a flash. After three back-to-back successes at the box office, Anushka Sharma, Bollywood's new 'it girl' is now gearing up for her next release Ladies vs Ricky Bahl opposite Ranveer Singh in December. While life has gotten busier for this model-turned-actress, she believes in abiding by a few rules, for which discipline is key. Apart from exercising well, choosing her foods carefully (few carbs, more proteins and lots of water) and meditating twice a day (that lets her be at peace with her inner self), she also follows a strict beauty regimen to keep her skin glowing. "Since my skin is always exposed to a lot of make-up, cleansing and scrubbing forms an integral part of my beauty ritual. I always make sure I remove every trace of make-up from my skin with a creamy cleanser, wash my face well and moisturise it with a cocoa butter lotion.

Bollywood's Ex-Lovers Turned Friends

Flames to dust, lovers to friends. Why do all good things come to an end?" sang Nelly Furtado.
These lines hold true for a lot of Bollywood folks since their transition from passionate lovers to 'just good friends' happens in the shortest possible time post break-up. Here are some such Bollywood stars who went on to become friends after their break-up.
Deepika Padukone- Ranbir Kapoor

Deepika and Ranbir didn't exactly have quite an amicable break-up. It was Ranbir's alleged infidelity that prompted the leggy lass to dump him. A few digs later, Deepika apparently got over her heartbreak and is, today, in a comfortable space with the Kapoor heir. The two have signed an Ayan Mukherji film and, resultantly, Deepika even attended Ranbir's birthday party, as a 'friend', of course.

Salman Khan- Katrina Kaif

A perfect love-story suddenly went kaput when Salman and Katrina Kaif called it quits on their relationship. The hushed reason was said to be young gun Ranbir Kapoor. Irrespective of the break-up, neither did Sallu stop taking care of his ex-mistress nor did Katrina stop respecting him as an actor, person and friend. The two are also shooting for an upcoming film, titled 'Ek Tha Tiger'.

Shahid Kapoor- Priyanka Chopra
Sasha and Piggy Chops never admitted the fact that they dated each other, forget breaking up! However it can hardly be denied that two have been in an 'on- again/ off-again' relationship mode. Despite talks of their link-up and break-up, the two remain fast friends and are seen hanging out together quite often.

Preity Zinta- Ness Wadia
Preity and Ness were like a match made in heaven when they were together. They were apparently the happiest couple in B-town but they too fell prey to the downside of relationships. Preity and Ness decided to go their own separate ways but made sure that they didn't lose the great friendship that they once shared.

Bipasha Basu- Dino Morea

Bipasha Basu and Dino Morea were the it-couple during their modelling days. After acting in several forgettable movies, the couple decided to split. Bipasha soon moved on to John Abraham (now her ex) and Dino, well, to a number of gorgeous ladies. After they broke up, the two never showed any bitterness towards each other and were always warm and affable whenever they met.

Akshay Kumar- Shilpa Shetty
Akshay Kumar and Shilpa Shetty had a very very nasty break-up owing to which Shilpa was left nursing her heartbreak. It took years for Shilpa to completely recover from the break-up and Akki's infidelity which was why she totally ignored anything to do with him. It was only after she found peace within herself, post her 'Big Brother' win and marriage to Raj Kundra, that Shilpa got over the demons of her past. Today, she doesn't seem to be affected by Akshay's presence anymore and, reportedly, holds him in good regard.
